Ferrari Unveils 2026 499P Livery to Defend FIA WEC World Titles

Ferrari has officially launched its 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign, presenting the updated livery of the 499P Hypercar that will defend both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ world titles secured in 2025. The unveiling took place at the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena in front of tifosi, executives and the official Ferrari – AF Corse drivers, marking the beginning of a season in which the Prancing Horse aims to confirm its leadership at the top level of endurance racing.

After ending a 53-year wait for the Manufacturers’ crown and capturing the Drivers’ title in the Hypercar class, Ferrari enters 2026 not as challenger — but as reigning benchmark.



A Livery That Celebrates World Champions



The 2026 499P retains its unmistakable Rosso Scuderia base but introduces subtle yet meaningful design evolutions. Most notably, the matte red finish of previous seasons is replaced with a gloss interpretation identical to the Scuderia Ferrari HP SF-26 Formula 1 car — visually strengthening the link between Ferrari’s Formula 1 and endurance programs.

FIA World Championship laurels now adorn the bodywork, positioned beneath the Prancing Horse shield on the front fenders. The #51 car, which secured the Drivers’ title in 2025, carries additional championship laurels on its door fins, symbolising its reigning status.

The yellow diagonal arrow motif — an iconic element since the 499P’s 2023 debut — has been reversed for 2026, now pointing toward the rear wing rather than forward. This design choice emphasizes the cockpit as the central structural and symbolic element of the car.

Ferrari’s Centro Stile once again blends heritage and modernity, paying tribute to the legendary 312 P era while refining the 499P’s identity for its title defence campaign.



Technical Continuity With Targeted Refinements



From a regulatory perspective, the 2026 499P introduces no major technical overhauls. The only homologation “Joker” applied since the car’s debut remains the update introduced at São Paulo in July 2024.

However, Ferrari used the winter break intensively for data analysis, simulator correlation and aerodynamic recalibration. Following FIA re-measurements conducted in a new wind tunnel in the United States, the 499P has been repositioned within a revised performance window.

This required aerodynamic adjustments — primarily to the underbody — to meet regulation-defined drag and downforce targets. Although limited in visible scope, these refinements significantly influence the car’s balance and behaviour.

The 499P continues to run its hybrid powertrain configuration combining a twin-turbo mid-rear V6 with a front-axle-mounted ERS (Energy Recovery System). The combustion engine, derived from Ferrari’s road-going V6 family, reinforces Maranello’s philosophy of direct technology transfer between racing and production models.

New Michelin Tyres Add Another Variable



One of the key technical variables entering 2026 is Michelin’s updated tyre range. Ferrari has primarily tested the medium compound so far, working to re-establish wind tunnel and on-track correlation while recalibrating set-up to match the revised performance window.

Tyre warm-up characteristics have improved, but full understanding of balance implications remains ongoing ahead of the championship opener.

In modern Hypercar competition, marginal tyre performance differences often decide podium positions — making this adaptation phase critical.

Ferrari maintains stability in its driver crews for a fourth consecutive season.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans remains the centrepiece of the season — not only for prestige, but also because of its double-points structure.
